These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between Global Ties U.S. (“Global Ties U.S.,” “we,” “us”) and the authorized users (“Users,” “you”) of member organizations of the Global Ties Network (“Member”).
These Terms apply to access to and use of the Global Ties U.S. Member Portal, located at https://members.globaltiesus.org/ (the “Portal”), including all materials and resources available through it (the “Content”).
Global Ties U.S. provides the Portal as a member benefit to support Member programming and operations. Your use of the Portal is also governed by the Global Ties U.S. Privacy Policy.

- Acceptance of These Terms
By clicking “I Agree,” checking a box, creating an account, or otherwise accessing or using the Portal, you confirm that:
- Acceptance of These Terms
- You have read and understand these Terms, and
- You are authorized to access the Portal on behalf of a Member, and
- You and the Member agree to be bound by these Terms.
- Member Portal Access
The Portal is for authorized users who are directly affiliated with a Member (e.g. staff, board members, interns, or contractors working under the Member’s direction).
To use the Portal, Users must log in using credentials issued by Global Ties U.S. or created through the Member’s authorized access process.
Global Ties U.S. may deny, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe a User is not authorized or is using the Portal in violation of these Terms (see section Suspension and Termination for more details).
If you believe credentials have been lost, stolen, or misused, you will notify Global Ties U.S. promptly at Membership@GlobalTiesUS.org.
- Permitted Use (What You May Do)
Global Ties U.S. provides the Portal as a member benefit to support Member programming and operations. Subject to these Terms, Users may:
- Access and use the Portal and Content only for the Member’s programmatic, administrative, and operational work, including work connected to IVLP and other Global Ties Network activities;
- Download, save, print, and share Content internally within the Member organization as reasonably needed for that work; and
- Use Content to plan or implement programs, complete applications/reporting, train staff, and support day‑to‑day operations.
- Prohibited Use (What You May Not Do)
Unless Global Ties U.S. gives prior written permission, you may not:
- Share Content outside your organization
- Publish, post, or distribute Content publicly or use any information to inform public content (including on websites, social media, newsletters, or public drives);
- Forward or provide Content to non‑Members or to individuals not authorized by the Member; or
- Sell, license, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize any Content.
- Misuse the Portal or its Content
- Use the Portal or Content for personal use unrelated to Member work;
- modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works from Content for external Distribution (internal formatting changes for internal use are fine);
- Remove copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices from Content; or
- Use the Portal in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it.
- Scrape or automate access
- Use automated tools (including scraping, bots, spiders, or similar technologies) to access, copy, or monitor the Portal or Content; or
- Attempt to bypass security controls or access areas you are not authorized to access.
- Ownership and Intellectual Property
The Portal and Content are owned by Global Ties U.S. or used by Global Ties U.S. under license. These Terms give you permission to use the Portal and Content as described above, but do not transfer ownership to you or the Member.
If you want to use Content in a way not covered by these Terms (for example, to quote, repost, or publish externally), contact: Membership@GlobaTtiesUS.org.
- Member Responsibility for Users
The Member is responsible for ensuring that its Users follow these Terms. Global Ties U.S. may hold the Member accountable for violations by its Users.
- Monitoring and Compliance
Global Ties U.S. may monitor Portal usage and investigate suspected misuse to:
- Protect the Portal and Content,
- Ensure compliance with these Terms, and
- Maintain system security and integrity.
- Third‑Party Materials
Some Content may come from third parties. Global Ties U.S. does not control third‑party materials and is not responsible for third‑party websites, tools, or content linked from the Portal. Your use of third‑party materials may be subject to additional terms from those providers.
- Updates to the Portal or These Terms
Global Ties U.S. may update the Portal or Content from time to time. We may also update these Terms.
If we make a material change, we will provide notice through the Portal, email, or another reasonable method. Continued use of the Portal after notice means you accept the updated Terms.
- Suspension and Termination
Global Ties U.S. may suspend or terminate access to the Portal:
- If we believe there has been a violation of these Terms,
- To protect the security or operation of the Portal, or
- If a Member is no longer in good standing or no longer eligible for access.
Upon termination, you must stop using the Portal and, upon request, delete Content stored outside the Portal (except where retention is required by law or internal recordkeeping policies).
- Disclaimer of Warranties
The portal and content are provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Global Ties U.S. disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. Global Ties U.S. does not guarantee that the Portal will be uninterrupted or error‑free.
- Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Global Ties U.S. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Portal or content.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
- Indemnification
The Member agrees to defend and indemnify Global Ties U.S. (and its officers, directors, employees, and agents) from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from:
- The Member’s or its Users’ misuse of the Portal,
- Unauthorized external sharing or publication of Content, or
- Violation of these Terms by the Member or its Users.
- Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute must be brought in the federal or local courts located in the District of Columbia, and you consent to jurisdiction and venue there.
If a Member is a U.S. Government agency or contractor, use of the Portal is subject to applicable federal procurement regulations for commercial computer software.
- Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
- Entire Agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Global Ties U.S. regarding the Portal, and supersede any prior understandings on this topic.
